And, that's the first public photo of the WO Bone, over there on the left ... pretty cool, eh?!?!
- Change in platform: I had planned on using a crowdfunding platform that was new and innovative, yet unproven, to launch the WO Bone. That platform has since become an unviable option and I've decided to move the project to Kickstarter. I believe that Kickstarter will be a good platform to launch from, mostly because of the mass of people digging around on that site each day.
- Launch strategy - website: I read a blog post from Tim Ferriss (the 4 hr workweek guy) here that helped me think through how I would make the WO Bone known to the world in such a way that prompted people to 1) buy one, and 2) tell their friends about it. So, I had a few additions made to the WO Design website that made it easier to share on social media outlets. And, I added a section where media folks (bloggers, etc) could get on there and download images and press release templates.
- Launch strategy - email lists/templates: I made a list of 60 or so close friends that I feel would like to know about this project and I've created an email template that I will send out to them letting them know that the WO Bone Kickstarter Campaign is coming soon. I also created a separate list of pet industry contacts and bloggers and I will send a separate (but, similar) email to them to "grease the skids" and hopefully get some media attention prior to launch of the Kickstarter campaign. Then, once the campaign launches (first week of March) I will email both lists again to let them know it's "live".
- Pray lots - I believe that the only way this project makes a big impact is with God's help. So, I've been praying for the right people to take note of this project and spread it around. I've also been praying specifically that Widows and Orphans would be helped, loved, and come to know Christ through the efforts of WO Design. This project and this company is definitely not about me ... it's about helping others through the talents and resources that I have been given and I'm praying that will be the case.
The Kickstarter campaign is pretty much done. My email lists and templates are ready to go. Stay tuned for official launch details!
And, here's the launch video we made up, just to "wet your whistle" a bit ...
