- FAITH: An inordinate amount of faith is required "when the rubber meets the road" ... what, faith? Yep, faith ... "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see." Hebrews 11:1 NLT ... now, this verse is primarily talking about one's faith in Jesus. But, I feel as if it is also pointing to a faith in things that you feel are "from God". What do I mean? Well, last fall we (my wife and I) felt called to grow our business and open a 2nd retail location. There were a number of things about that that didn't make sense to us at the time. But, there were other things that made a lot of sense and we were obedient ... now here we are, 2 weeks into having the new store open. Which leads me to ... since I feel that we were called by God to open the 2nd store and we were obedient in that, then we can proudly say that we have the faith referenced in Hebrews 11. That faith is vital now that our doors are open and we need some regular customers to start making regular purchases. Because that faith is so important at this point, I feel as if I've been "leaning into it" even more and it is reinforced and stronger as a result.
- STAFFING: If staffing is normally a challenge for your business, it is significantly amplified when adding locations. This seems like a "duh" statement, but ... it is really hard. We hired 3 capable employees 2 months in advance of Dee-O-Gee Downtown ... thought we were pretty prepared, then we lost a key employee about 1 month ago.. But, we've made it through the "opening" portion and we have a new employee hired that we are very excited about.
- PRIORITIES: Other things naturally get put on hold and you have to be ok with this if you want the primary "thing" you're working on to take root and "go". In order to be fully present with Dee-O-Gee Downtown, I've had to place other projects on hold. My WO Design project is in a good spot for a "pause" and I'm still really excited about the future potential there ... but, I haven't had space to work on that for a few weeks.
PS. Here's a gallery of images for the new 2nd retail location, if you're interested. :)
