The first few weeks of November are pretty slow as most people are waiting to spend their holiday shopping dollars until after Thanksgiving.
Even in the midst of the stress of being a small retailer around the holidays it's a season filled with hope. There's the hope of having lots of customers in your establishment ... which, if that happens enough, ends up making all of the previously mentioned stress seem silly. But, more importantly than that, there's the "reason for the season", right? We celebrate THE REASON for the hope discussed on this site (and, the reason for my unbridled day-to-day hope) that showed up on the planet for us on Christmas Day.
If it weren't for Christ's giftings and blessings and provision, there's no vision for Dee-O-Gee and no means to launch and operate a small business. I am so thankful for that ... and, if I can "lean into" that and put my focus there, it helps me to not get too caught up in the stress and worries of being a small retailer around the holidays.
How about you ... Does the Holiday Season bring more stress than hope (i.e. joy)? Why?
