I feel like that now, as we just wrapped up a busy retail holiday season. But, in "real life" you can't just stop going to the gym (as I would do in college) ... the kids still need your presence, the business still needs your presence, you still have a marriage to keep healthy and alive.
So, what do I plan to do? Well, as I mentioned above, I feel the need to analyze our 2013 and plan it out a bit more intentionally ... with some rest periods built in. As I was thinking through that this morning and reading the Bible, I was struck by the fact that God already knows all of those plans that I will set forth (see snippet from Psalms 139 below) ... which makes it seem a lot more attainable, in my opinion. Now, I don't fully understand how He really knows all of my future plans at the same time He knows the plans of everyone else on the planet. I guess that's where "faith" comes in.
At this point, really all I need to do is listen and respond, with respect to planning out our year. So, that's how I plan to start my plan ... ask God, "What do you want me to do as I lead our family and business this year, with respect to our schedule and goals, that is healthy for us and ultimately gives Glory to You and your Kingdom?"
When I get some answers, I'll let you know in a future post ... stay tuned.
How about you? Do you have some goals that need addressed in the coming year? Personally, I feel hopeful and "known" because I know mine are already laid out for me. What are yours? Will you set them? How do you stay accountable to them?
Psalms 139:1-6 NLT
"O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!"
