This past Thursday and Friday, I was able to be part of the Global Leadership Summit (GLS), hosted at the Commons in Bozeman, MT. For the past 3 years, I have been responsible for the operations of this 500+ person event, which is a simulcast from Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago. The GLS is also the reason that I went to Ethiopia last fall. The main reason I am passionate about the GLS is that it sits at this fascinating convergence of 'faith life' and the business world ... a place that I am very passionate about (and, a place from/for which this site is designed).
Each year, the speaker lineup at the GLS is phenomenal and I have a few highlights below, from the sessions I was able to watch this year. This event is a 'fill up your tank' kind of event ... designed to get you engaged and fired up for the busy fall season of business, church work, profession, child rearing, etc.
"Love God. Love people. Do Stuff." - Bob Goff
"When failure is not an option, there can be no innovation." - Dr. Brene Brown
"We are called to love the people that work for us." - Patrick Lencioni
"Are you expanding God's Kingdom on earth or your own reputation?" - Chris Brown
What do you think about those? Are there others that you heard, if you attended the GLS? Do you have other leadership development events that you attend?
I'll write more about why I serve at the GLS and why I think it is important in a separate post.
